Privacy Policy

Updated: June 26, 2026

Introduction

Civtil is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit Civtil and how it is used.

Information We Collect

1. Usage Data

When you visit Civtil, we may collect or process basic usage information such as the pages you view, device and browser information, approximate location derived from IP address, search terms, selected filters, current map area, selected records, and related URL query parameters. This helps us operate the site, return relevant results, understand how the site is used, and improve performance.

2. Analytics and Performance Tools

Civtil uses analytics and performance monitoring tools to measure site usage, monitor performance, and improve the product. These tools do not use cookies for analytics. They may collect aggregated usage and performance data such as page views, referrers, URL paths and filtered query parameters, approximate geolocation, device and browser information, and web performance metrics.

3. Mapping Services

Civtil uses third-party mapping services to display interactive maps, map tiles, map pins, and parcel or location context. When you use map features, those providers may receive technical information needed to load and secure the map, such as IP address, device and browser information, map tile or API requests, and approximate map or location context.

Civtil does not currently ask for or collect your device's precise GPS location.

4. Cookies and Browser Storage

Civtil does not use cookies for analytics. We may use cookies or browser storage only for essential site functionality. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings.

5. Contact Information

If you contact us, we collect your email address and the information you provide so we can respond.

6. Early Access Signups

If you sign up for early access to Civtil, we collect your name, email address, and any additional information you provide, such as your role or user type. This information is used to notify you about Civtil account availability, feature updates, and membership launch announcements. Early access members may also receive priority access or special pricing when Civtil memberships launch.

Public Records Data

Civtil displays information obtained from public records. We do not create these records. We aggregate and organize them to make public information easier to access. Project pages, linked permits, mapped references, and parcel context are based on or derived from public records and available location data. If you believe a public record is inaccurate, updates must be made through the original government source.

How We Use Information

  • To operate and maintain the site
  • To provide search, filtering, project pages, permit pages, and interactive map features
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve performance
  • To respond to support requests
  • To send early access updates and notifications about Civtil account availability, features, and membership launches
  • To protect against fraud, abuse, or security issues

Data Sharing

Civtil does not sell personal information. Information collected through early access signups is used only for Civtil communications. We may share information with service providers such as hosting, mapping, email delivery, analytics, or performance monitoring vendors who process data on our behalf, or when required to comply with law or legal requests.

Data Retention

Civtil retains analytics data for a limited period in aggregated form to understand site usage. Analytics data is used in aggregated form and is not intended to identify individual users.

Early access signup information is retained for as long as necessary to provide updates about Civtil account availability, features, and Civtil membership launches, unless you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights related to your personal information. Since Civtil primarily displays public records, requests to remove or change public record data generally must be directed to the original government source. For questions about Civtil's own data practices, you can contact us.

You may opt out of Civtil emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our messages.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
